A Delhi court has issued summons to the representatives of 21 social networking sites including Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Yahoo and YouTube to face trial for allegedly webcasting objectionable content. They will appear in the court today.

Metropolitan Magistrate Sudesh Kumar took cognisance of a private criminal complaint and has directed the Government to take "immediate appropriate steps" and file a report in the court by January 13.

Social networking sites such as Facebook have emerged as the new "honey trap" set by enemy spies prompting the government to ask senior officials of paramilitary and armed forces to stop flaunting their career information or at best stay away from such web sites.
Cases of such cyber espionage have come to light where officials of paramilitary forces posted in sensitive areas were found chatting with spies from across the border or foreign agents who were posing as women on the Internet, official sources said.

Facebook has a new service that will enable users of the social network to report friends who have expressed suicidal thoughts and make sure they get an offer of help from the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

Friends will be able to report suicidal behavior by clicking a report option next to any content on the site and choosing suicidal content under the harmful behavior option, Facebook spokesman Frederic Wolens told Reuters.

I began using the internet to promote my talk shows way back in 1994, with my first email address and webpage. Today, I use it to promote business, build leads, sell books, get exposure on articles and to attract people to my internet marketing show and newsletter.
I began using social media, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube, marketing about 2 years ago and they still amaze me today. There will no doubt be a few major players who survive over the next 5-10 years in the enormous social media world. The question from an investment and business angle, is who to invest in and who will return to its shareholders the most over the next 5-10 years. I believe that Google , Facebook and LinkedIn may all win and win big; I will explain why and what I believe investors should be doing.
